Jesse & Justin's Best And Worst Movies of 2008

So with all the movies we have watched this year there is no way that we couldn't compile a best and worst list. We watched a total of 462 movies this year....yes, i said 462. Now some of you may think that is pathetic, but we think it is quite awesome. And that number isn't even counting the mulitple times that we watched certain movies, and also doesn't count tv shows. Counting all of those we would easily be in the 600's. We are quite amazing. Yes, we are. Unfortunately a lot of the movies we watched this year were not movies that came out this year. These lists do not include many of the highly acclaimed movies that have recently come out (i.e. gran turino, the wrestler, slumdog millionaire, doubt, synechdoche ny, the reader, revolutionary road, etc.) because like i have said before they haven't come to cedar city or even st. george so there is no way we could have seen them. These lists only include the movies that we have seen. There were some crappy movies out there this year that we did not see and that's why they don't show up here. Without further ado, our lists of the best and worst.

Jesse's 5 Worst Films of 2008
5-August
4-10,000 B.C.
3-The Happening
2-Hancock
And Jesse's worst movie of the year....
1-Funny Games

***Just missing the list: Over Her Dead Body***

Justin's 5 Worst Films of 2008
5-Hancock
4-88 Minutes
3-Prom Night
2-Funny Games
And Justin's worst movie of the year (and one of the worst of the decade)...
1-The Happening

***Just missing the list: Untraceable, Deception, Twilight, And crappy Indiana Jones***

Jesse's 5 Best Films of 2008
5-Penelope
4-Cloverfield
3-Son of Rambow
2-Young At Heart
And Jesse's Favorite movie of 2008...
1-The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

***Just missing the list: In Bruges***

Justin's 5 Best Films of 2008
5-Ghost Town
4-Son Of Rambow
3-Young At Heart
2-The Dark Knight
And Justin's Favorite movie of 2008...
1-The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

***Just missing the list: Cloverfield***

There you have it folks. Now go watch all of these movies. Neither of our lists contain a single 'R' rated movie, so you can all go watch them. However, by the time these movies that we didn't get to see come out on video, these lists will probably change. But i love our lists.

The Curious Case Of Jesse And Justin

Who gets tired of watching or talking about movies? We certainly don't. I am not (for once) going to ramble on and on. Let's just get to the point shall we. Everybody should see the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It is such a fantastic movie. So beautiful in every single way. As much as it sucks for me to say this, Batman no longer can be argued as the best movie of the year. CCBB (i acronymed it) is better in every single way. However the directing in both of these movies is incredible. Batman, i am sorry, but you cannot be the best movie any longer. And i know Wall E has become popular and trendy to say it's the best film of the year, but it no longer has any chance whatsoever to be called that. People love it and can call it their favorite movie of the year, that's fine, but it is certainly not the best picture of the year. Sorry wall e and batman lovers, but that button movie is pretty darn good. I will predict right now that it gets nominated for 10 academy awards and will win 6. I will guarantee wins in best adapted screenplay, best makeup, and best visual effects. I will have to try and see the others before i guarantee the others.

*This opinion of mine does not include revolutionary road, the reader, gran turino, the wrestler, slumdog millionaire, or doubt, because nothing comes to cedar city so i haven't been able to see any of these. However, i find it very difficult to believe any of these could be better.

2007 Justademy Awards

So awhile back i decided to make my own academy awards from 1980 to present and post them on this here blog. Unfortunately the 1980's are taking me longer than i expected. So i decided to post them backwards than originally planned. I will be posting from 2007 backwards to 1981. Why? Because i have seen almost all the movies from the last eighteen years that even remotely had a chance at an award, so it takes me less time and gives me more time. Get it? Good. So since for the first time in the 81 year history of the academy they got it 95 percent right last year so there aren't many changes to be made. So, you will be getting a double dose today. I will be giving you 2oo7 and 2006. Boy did the academy totally miss the boat in 2006! My awards are also called the Justademy awards. Bryan said that, i believe as a joke, but i liked the sound of it good enough so that's their names. And here we go. Remember the format? The winners are highlighted in red, and the ones that i nominated that are different than the original nominations are italicized and asterisked, so you can't possibly miss them. Here we go for real. And they do look a little flashier this time. Ok, now really.

A First For Me

Today I shoveled my very first snow-covered driveway. I didn't get many opportunities to do that growing up in St. George. Let me tell you, I picked a doozy!

This is from the top of the driveway:

This is from the bottom of the driveway:

Okay, so the sun helped a little...but it was still major work!

Proof that Poor People Can Still Decorate for Christmas

This is our Christmas tree. The tree was given to us by my sister, the decorations are made completely out of construction paper, crayons, and staples. Eat your heart out, Martha.

Justin On The Road

So after many many months of debating i finally broke down and decided to read The Road. I don't like reading books that they make movies of because for some reason it makes me enjoy both versions less. But i had to because i couldn't wait for the movie any more. I finished it today and i must say, i was very underwhelmed. I don't get it, and that makes me sad. I want to be in the loop, i want to think it's a brilliant piece of literature....but i don't. I thought it was boring, uneventful, and i seriously wanted to punch the little boy right in the face. I don't care if he is only a small lad, i would like to have thrown him into a tree and then held him under water until bubbles stopped surfacing. Ok, not really, but the punch in the face part was very accurate. I couldn't even believe his character. No little boy is going to sit there and question his dad over and over when he continues to save his life over and over again. And the kid was such a freaking whiner. I know he was little, but i would like for somebody else to go through that book and count the times that he says he is scared. I bet it is close to a hundred. Whine whine whine whine whine whine whine. I was just waiting for his dad to punch him, or to kill him and eat him. That would have been fine too. I really really hope the movie is better. But also i am not a novel enthusiast just like anybody that knows me knows. Maybe that's why i don't appreciate it. I can imagine the performance Viggo Mortensen is going to give though, and that is going to be something to see. Maybe the expectations killed it for me, or maybe it was the boring parts. Either way the book really is ok but if anybody is going to read it i would say start on page ninety.

ESPN

There is a fantastic article on espn.com about jerry sloan. You, yes you, should read it. Here is the link yo! http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=adande_ja&page=Sloan-081209&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab2pos1

For Jake

So i came home from work the other night and showed me a little clip of the show we love. It was a testament to the brilliance and hilarity of the show. Some people call this fantastic show the Gilmore Girls. Now i know what some people probably think, that i just like this show because Jesse does. So very not true. If i were a single dude and i had been introduced to this show i would have watched it and loved it then to. So this little clip goes like this. Sookie and Lorelai are standing outside of this very large house that Luke had bought for Lorelai. Then the conversation goes like this; Lorelai: "It's big" Sookie: "That's what she said" blah blah blah blah then Sookie: "I think it just got bigger" Lorelai: "That's what she said." This is a testament because this episode was written and had already aired (a little over a year) before this joke ever appeared on the office. So take that Jake. The show is hilarious, and awesome, and is still one of the wittiest shows to ever appear on television. I heart those gilmore girls. Their quick witted humor, and cynicism, and sarcasm makes me feel all warm inside. Justin and the gilmore girls-12, jake-0.

Football Talk

I have not posted a football blog for quite awhile so i don't want to hear any complaints. Yes, that means you nic. Not really, but as the joker would say, "here we go."

Hmm....all the bcs games are pretty much crap. I don't care about the money or the rules or any other crap. I want to watch good football. Is Texas and ohio state going to be good football?! Heck butt no. Would Boise st. give them a better game than ohio st? Not by much but heck butt yes. Let's glance at them real quick....ok that was all the time i needed to come up with this conclusion. Florida/Oklahoma is going to be the only close game and that one may not even be close. I think they will both score a hundred bajillion points but i think oklahoma wins because i think they are the best team. Utah should beat alabama. Alabama has a huge offensive line i know blah blah blah. But so does BYU and look what their defensive line did to Byu's offensive line.....and Alabama's defense???? What?? How are they the third ranked defense in the country? That was a testament to me that they didn't play anybody that could throw a football. Those db's couldn't guard anybody. They let tebow throw three touchdown passes. Yes, three! And i can throw a football better with my butt than he can with his arm. Then Texas is going to destroy ohio st. and usc is going to pee all over penn st. Is anybody else getting tired of the las vegas bowl? I mean it is better than the poinsettia bowl but do we really have to play arizona and tuitama again? Like bryan said he is a very average qb which means he will destroy our secondary, but he can also run so that means we are pretty much screwed. Jake Locker anyone? Sadly before the season started everybody thought we would be a bcs buster and here we are, maybe going to barely squeek by in the las vegas bowl. It's so disappointing. Although college football really needs a playoff i have come to terms with the fact that it may never happen. Stupid college football people. Oh and bryan also pointed out that pitta is not a finalist for best te?!?!?!? Pitta is the best te in the nation by a country mile (and i hear that's far.) Get real. Why do i love college football so much when it is just high school politics? I don't know. At least in basketball they give every school a fair chance at the national championship. In what other sport are teams automatically disqualified just because of their location? Not just some teams either, about half of them. It drives me nuts. I swear if the games weren't so dang good, and the atmosphere so dang cool, and the rivalries so dang intense, i swear i wouldn't watch it.

Jesse's Pet Peeve

Right now, I'm watching "Lucky You," a Romantic Comedy starring Eric Bana and Drew Barrymore. I wouldn't really recommend it, by the way. But the real reason I'm writing this post is because of a pet peeve that I've recently noticed. It has to do with the genre "Romantic Comedy." This genre is very deceiving about half the time. There should be a genre simply titled "Romance" although I know that turns people off. Any movie that is about a girl and a guy getting together, with a happy ending, is considered a "Romantic Comedy." This just bugs. "Lucky You," for example, was found in the Comedy section at Hollywood Video. It is wholly considered a Romantic Comedy. This movie is not funny in any way. There is no comedy. There are no jokes. Not even any sexual humor, or physical comedy.

There are a lot of movies like this. They are considered Romantic Comedies even though they aren't funny, and aren't even meant to be funny. I think a new genre needs to created for such movies, so I know what I'm renting.

Justin's Academy Awards

So, i got to thinking about two months ago that i thought the academy was retarded on many occasions. Why? Because they have obviously given out many awards for many reasons other for than the performances in front of or behind the camera. This has caused many undeserving oscars (i.e. halle berry.) Then entertainment weekly is doing this thing called recall the gold on their website. The are doing some of the awards every five years backwards until....1980 i believe. Then i had a great idea. I love movies! And i have opinions! So i decided to do my own academy awards starting from 1980 until the present. I am not sure why i started with 1980 but i think it is because the greatest movie of the 80's was made in 1980 and did not win best picture which is still one of the biggest academy mistakes. So i have been working on this project for freaking ever...about two months. I am doing all of the four major categories and posting them on this here blog until i am finished. I have finally finished 1980. But on a side note, the 1980 best actress category sadly goes unchanged from what it originally was because i have only seen one of the movies in question and no nothing of the performances so i felt i had no right to change them. I am not sure anybody will even care but that isn't really the point. I am doing it because it is a lot of fun for me and i think chris will get a kick out of it. The winners are highlighted in red. The ones that I nominated that are different from the original nominations are italicized. Ok, on with 1980 already!!!

1980 Best Actress Nominees:
Mary Tyler Moore {Ordinary People}
Sissy Spacek {Coal Miner's Daughter}
Goldie Hawn {Private Benjamin}
Gena Rowlanlds {Gloria}
Ellen Burnstyn {Resurrection}

**Like i said, mine are exactly the same**

1980 Best Actor Nominees:
Peter O'Toole {The Stunt Man}
Robert De Niro {Raging Bull}
Jack Lemmon {Tribute}
John Hurt {The Elephant Man}
Robert Duvall {The Great Santini}

Justin's 1980 Best Actor Nominees:
Donald Sutherland {Ordinary People}
John Hurt {The Elephant Man}
Robert De Niro {Raging Bull}
Peter O'Toole {The Stunt Man}
Jack Nicholson {The Shining}

1980 Best Director Nominees:
Robert Redford {Ordinary People}
Martin Scorsese {Raging Bull}
Richard Rush {The Stunt Man}
Roman Polanski {Tess}
David Lynch {The Elephant Man}

Justin's 1980 Best Director Nominees:
Robert Redford {Ordinary People}
David Lynch {The Elephant Man}
Martin Scorsese {Raging Bull}
Irvin Kershner {Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back}
Stanley Kubrick {The Shining}

1980 Best Picture Nominees:
Coal Miner's Daughter
Ordinary People
Raging Bull
Tess
The Elephant Man

Justin's 1980 Best Picture Nominees:
Ordinary People
Raging Bull
The Elephant Man
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
The Shining

**It seriously pains me to take away best director and best picture from ordinary people because it is truly a beautiful and amazing film........unfortunately raging bull is a tad bit better.**

My leg and I are headed to Corpus Christi

I'll admit it, i was wrong. I was wrong because of a field goal kicker. Utah lucked out. They got dominated by TCU's defense all game and TCU gave it away. But like i said before, a win is a win is a win. So none of it matters. Sadly, i have to say i am not as optimistic as chris. If TCU can't beat Utah in RES than we definitely can't. A bit pessimistic? Perhaps. But oh how sweet it would be to crash their BCS dreams. Unfortunately we never seem to upset them, it just happens the other way around. Stupid kickers making me wrong.

To everyone who reads this blog and loves Jesse:

Justin and I are going to be in Salt Lake City next weekend (November 14-16) because my friend Jessica is getting married--yea!--and her bridal shower is on Saturday. As some of you know, my birthday is on the 16th, so I thought since we will be up there among all of you, we should probably all get together and celebrate. I'm hoping to have a barbeque, weather allowing, and all y'all are invited! It will be Saturday the 15th at 4 p.m. in Herriman somewhere. (I will let you know where soon, hopefully, sometime). Please plan on coming, Justin and I really want to see everyone, including but not limited to:

Best...News...Ever...

So not really the best news ever, but pretty close. Well, maybe not that either but it is definitely the best video game ever. Ha, yes, you are reading another post about video games. This is great though. A couple of days ago Harmonix and EA sports announced The Beatles rock band game!!!! The is going to be the greatest game ever in the world!!! Although they are adamant on saying that it is not a rock band game and it deserves its own title, the format is going to be pretty much the same. Therefore, i call it The Beatles rock band game. It comes out next holiday season. What a long year this is going to be. Now for some history. I grew up hating the Beatles. Why? That's a very valid question that i can answer in two words; Yellow Submarine. What a freaking retarded song. I heard that song when i was in fourth grade and i wanted to kill myself. Therefore without ever listening to any other Beatles songs. I continued to hate them until i met Jesse, then she made me listen to them. Wow, was i surprised at what the Beatles really sound like. I judged them based on yellow submarine (which is still to this day the only beatles song that i have heard that i don't like) which isn't even a real Beatles song. When i listened to them i could not believe the complete genius of their music. I love it. I can't wait to rock to songs like "Revolution" "Come Together" and a billion others. Here is a list of songs i really hope they put on there:

Revolution
Come Together
Let It Be
Hey Jude
She Loves You
I Want To Hold Your Hand
While My Guitar Gently Weeps (I adore this song)
Because
Something
Help!
Get Back
Michelle
Eight Days A Week
Eleanor Rigby
Helter Skelter
Ticket To Ride
Blackbird
Love Me Do
Happiness Is A Warm Gun
From Me To You
Twist And Shout
You're Gonna Lose That Girl
............and many many others that i can't think of right now.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday is the day we get ready for saturday

I am excited for thursday. I must say, i have never been excited for a tcu vs. utah game in my life, but i can't wait for this one. TCU is going to spank utah like the ugly child of the family and send them to bed with no dinner, or sheets, or blankets, and then they are going to come into the room late at night when they are sleeping and and pull that trigger. I am excited. Utah fans have not been able to shut their retarded mouths since TCU destroyed us. The funny thing to me was, all these utah fans were running their mouths after the game........but did they forget that they still had to play tcu? Maybe they should have held their tongues a little longer. Plus all these retards were harrassing BYU and blah blah blah, but what is the shame in losing to a better team? Seriously!!!!! Somebody please explain this to me! TCU is the better team and they proved that. I have never had a problem swallowing a loss if it's to a better team. They were better, they won. Pretty simple concept. But i wouldn't expect that kind of logic, or class from a utah fan. I have never met a utah fan (family excluded) that has shown any kind of class whatsoever. They have my vote for the worst fans in college football. I have been to a byu-utah game, and i could not believe the way grown men were talking to us, we were a group of twelve year deacons by the way.
Even when utah loses the ute fans will keep running their mouths with crap like "at least we didn't lose by as much as you guys did." News flash-a loss is a loss is a loss is a loss is a loss. And no, utah won't lose by as much for two reasons. 1-At this point in the season they are a better team than byu, i don't have much of a problem admitting that seeing how it is crystal clear. 2-It's in salt lake and home field is always nice to have.
Now to my team. WHERE IS THE DEFENSE?! Is it really that hard to run alongside some guy and make sure he doesn't catch the football EVERY time they throw it to him? I am pretty sure i could a better job than #4. I am adopting Bryan's method of calling him by his jersey number because he is not worth learning his name. If we don't beat San Diego St. by a trillion than will just about die. I actually might. I called this back in february though when bronco hired a defensive coordinator. I expressed my thoughts to a couple people that our defense wasn't going to be nearly as good as it had been and i said they would struggle heavily. I hate being right all the time. See, and after the TCU game i thought it would be a wake up call and the defense would start playing better. Apparently, it seems to be the exact opposite. It seems like they aren't even trying because the bcs chance is gone so they feel like the entire season is lost. I see no fire on that side of the ball. 42 points to Colorado St? I had forgotten that they were an offensive juggernaut. Texas Tech is not someone to be messed with though. Graham Harrell throws a pretty ball. TCU 24 Utah 20.

P.s. If utah wins now i am going to look quite foolish, but i really don't bank on that happening.

A few things

October is over, and we watched 56 movies, and 27 discs of tv shows in October. It seems a little ridiculous when put in this context. We had a lot of free time this month, apparently.

We did carve our pumpkins after all. This is Justin's very abstract design.

This is Jesse's pumpkin.

Unfortunately, Todd was killed Halloween night when the wind blew him off his chair and Justin ran over him with the car. He lost both legs and an arm in the accident, it was touch and go for awhile, and then he slipped peacefully away. We will miss him dearly.

New Jesse drawing

This is called a Reductive drawing. We covered the paper in charcoal and then erased out the parts of the statue that were lit.

Per Jason's Request

This would actually fit a CD if it was a real CD player...

Any other requests from anyone??

Per Bryan's Request :)

Spooky!

I love Halloween and I am so excited for Halloween, even though Justin and I won't really be celebrating it. I got into the Halloween spirit by decorating. Take a look:

This is a Christmas tree that got overtaken by Halloween spiders.

This is Justin's broken bike that got infested with big spiders.

These are the pumpkins that have been sitting right inside our door for about a week. Maybe we'll carve them today.

Check out our bat and ghost-infested trees. Ahh! (It's scarier at night)

I named him Todd.

This is all about guitar hero.....really!

So what has Justin been doing while Jesse builds an entire civilization with legos? He has been playing the new guitar hero game. I actually am not allowed to rent games until they have been out for two weeks, but i found a coupon, which means i found a loop hole. So i used this coupon to rent it on sunday on my regular account that i had before i started working at hollywood. I was so very excited to see that the guitar hero game works with my rock band equipment. It makes me very happy. I have enjoyed playing the game quite a bit but i do have some issues with it. First and foremost, the music on the game isn't loud enough. I have our playstation hooked up to our surround sound. When i play rock band, i can't turn it up louder than 30 or the neighbors be complainin'. One time i did turn it up to 20 and it blew my face off....it was the most awesome thing ever. But the sound on guitar hero i have to turn up to 20 and i can still barely hear it when i am playing. It drives me freaking nuts. I have even turned the volume up in the options all they way......and nothing. Whatever. The other issue i have with it, is that it is WAY easier than rock band. Even though i am a wicked awesome expert drummer on rock band, i hadn't heard of most of these songs and i thought it would be best to start on hard. Guitar hero's hard is the equivalent of rock band's medium. I am just coasting through all of the songs, it feels way too simple. So i thought, "is it possible that i am just this awesome and it really is harder than i am making it look?" The answer to this is yes and no. I walked into game crazy today (for those that aren't familiar with hollywood video they have a seperate store inside of hollywood video that is called game crazy, they do the games...it really is just what it sounds like) because they were playing the new guitar hero. Yes, these guys make like three hundred dollars a day. They go hours and hours without a customer and they just get to play video games all day....it's pretty sweet. Anyway, i have a good report with a couple of the guys that work there, and one of them is exactly like you nic! It's crazy. Same voice, same laugh, same sense of humor, it's insane. So i was talking to him and i asked him if he thought it was easier than rock band. He concurred. He said there was only one song on guitar hero that he couldn't play and there were about fifteen on rock band that he couldn't play. I can't believe i am talking on this long about guitar hero....oh well. I am a dork, i know this. So basically i just wish it was a little harder because i am awesome. Oh yeah, and i did play some songs on expert today and the jump between hard and expert is pretty flippin' extreme. It's equal to playing rock band and going from medium to expert. I don't think Guitar hero's hard really prepares you for expert at all. One thing i do like though is that you can make more mistakes in guitar hero and still pass the song. On expert in rock band if you miss like five notes you get booed off stage. It's pretty intense. That's my guitar hero story. It is still tons of crazy fun though. I just rented the are you smarter than a fifth grader game too, and apparently i am not.....four times. I will be tomorrow though. Give me video game glory or give me death.

The good news is BYU is going to demolish every team the rest of the way......with the exception of utah. At first this season, i honestly wasn't so sure we could beat utah. Now i think our chances are actually a lot better. Why you ask? Remember that arrogance i felt BYU was playing with that i mentioned about early september. They acted like they didn't have to play to win these games and that they were just going to because they were the better team. Well, that caught up to them last thursday, and now we have angry cougars on the prowl looking for revenge, and it is going to get taken out on everybody. But now i think, rather i know that they know they are beatable. I believe it's woken them up and there will be a little more work put in. Go cougars.

Today was day number ten on the quest to beat fallout boy......no such luck. I was also in a very bad mood so i went to Hollywood and rented a game where i just get to run around and shoot the crap out of people, and arrest people, and deal drugs. This is just what i needed. I am not much of a "gamer" when it comes to anything other than sports games or rock band, but this was thoroughly entertaining. We had a midnight release on monday for a game called Fable 2 for the x-box 360. You should have seen all the dorks that showed up. It was a genuine geek fest. Yet, i found myself kinda wishing that i was a gamer geek like the rest of the losers that were standing in front of me. Sometimes sitting around playing these fantasy games with swords and whatnot for hours on end and peeing in your empty soda bottles because you can't leave the room because you have to see what orkachai your friends avatar is going to have to battle next. I am a little jealous of their lack of ambition.

I really like getting free movies from work. It makes me happy.

I can't wait for thanksgiving. It's a real holiday unlike this christopher colombus "hey i am a raper, murderer, and pillager of all you innocent people," crap.....i just love turkey stuffed inside my rolls.

Boo!!!

Our blog looks like Halloween!

Don't call me Keith Moon.....yet

Oh rock band. How thou puzzles me? How i curse thee! Today is day number nine on the stupid fall out boy song on expert. I have come to believe this song is impossible. I don't mean impossible for me, i mean impossible for everybody. I am not going to lie, i am pretty dang good at playing my fake drums, and i rock the crap out of expert.....however i cannot get to the final set list or two because of this blasted song. Stupid fast, unorganized, melodically empty punk music. I have played and rocked all the other songs so i have to pass this stupid one. I have passed every song on expert the very first time i played it, except for two. One took a couple tries and the other one took me a day. I am too good for fall out boy. Maybe that's my problem. I now begin day 9!!!!!!

Here I am

I decided I should only write about what I know from now on. So, here I am. Although I've always loved Alfred Hitchcock and his movies, whenever I see another one, his genius surprises and greatly pleases me. So, last night Justin and I watched "Rope" and I would highly suggest it to everyone. Go get this movie and watch it. It's subtle and powerful and intriguing and it'll make you wonder at the fact that Hitchcock never won an Oscar for Directing. Oh, and the acting is superb.

Jesse

The "T" word and me, and some other stuff

So i was sitting in my criminal justice class last friday and professor said that he doesn't believe there should be any "radicals" because they all become terrorists. At first this got me to thinking, "what kind of a statement is that?" But then i got passed the idiocy of the comment and thought to myself, "am i an emotional terrorist?" Does my body harbor the Al-Queda of personalities? Everybody that knows me knows that my feelings, beliefs, behaviors, and opinions are very extreme and "radical." I tend to express my opinion very aggresively. Is this my personality airplane flying in to others twin towers, to beat them down so i can come out the victor? I do always think i am great and right, and everybody's elses opinions are those of infidels.....Do i have a terroristic personality? I think this might be true.

This post is going to be flagged by the CIA for sure, because i use the words Al-Queda, terrorist, infidel, and personality. Then they are going to be subscribers to our blog because it is awesome. CIA welcome, no FBI allowed.

I also have this burning desire to play the ukelele. I don't know if that's how it's spelled and i don't care to look it up so we will pretend that that's right. I am also not big on punctuation. Hate it. I really do though. It sounds so cool, and it's so little. You can rock a ukelele. Well you can't but i can, you stealer of my idea....well i can't actually either but i wish i could. Just listen to losing my religion, that song rocks the uke. And then there is the one song played by the one hawaiian guy. In that song it sounds beautiful. See, the ukelele is so diverse and awesome. Those two qualities definitely mean that it was made for me.

Question: Can BYU beat tcu? Fact: They will.......not. Can they? Yes. Will they? I really don't think so. I am a very rotund fan of the "Y" but it is official, i have lost faith. They have so many talented players on offense, why don't they play like they are good? I think TCU's defense is going to shut them down, and they are going to run all over us, like everybody else can. I also think poo-tah will beat us. I made that up just now. I love me. Honestly, they look like a better team right now. I don't know if we just think we are going to win all these games so we just aren't showing up to play or what, but that is not a good approach. We are not entitled to a bcs game, we have to earn it. Right now, i don't think we stand a chance against anybody above us, but i do think we could beat any team below us, with the exception of mizzou. Polls are poo too. Defense looks soft, offense looks absent. Not sure, but i think tcu is going to wake us up. Hopefully we still come out with a victory, but my prediction: 16-10 TCU.

Post script: CIA if you read this could you get Jack Bauer's autograph for me. That would be sweet.

Post Post script: My "good stuff" doesn't hurt anymore, so that's good.

New Polls?

I didn't do a good job at all with predicting this weeks games, so let's try my hand at the polls. My prediction for tomorrow:

1-Alabama
2-Texas
3-Penn St.
4-USC
5-Florida
6-Texas Tech
7-BYU
8-Oklahoma
9-Georgia
10-Ohio St.

I have changed this forty times because i really have no idea what is going to happen. This is my best guess though. However i am putting byu ahead of oklahoma and i am not so sure that is going to happen.

Jesse's Drawings

I decided to start sharing the drawings I'm most proud of from my Beginning Drawing class. This first one is an assignment where I had to draw at least 8 things that describe my personality.

(an easel, a volleyball, hiking boots, my camera, a stack of movies, my bass guitar, my i-pod, and a buddha statue that Justin and I got on our honeymoon)

Ignorance is bliss

Paint that smile back on my face, but not one like the jokers. I don't want to walk around looking creepy all day. But if anybody is looking to see anymore politics discussed on this page you will be looking for a long long time. There will be no more talk about politics on this page. I have banned it, just as i have banned it from my home. The news is no longer viewed here either. Hey has anybody tried to see what would happen to the morale of the country if we reported mainly good things?! Crazy thinking i know. No more in my life will i talk politics. Why? Because they are all liars, crooks, and you can never believe a thing that comes out of their mouths. I can't name one honest politician....i don't think he exists. People say that you can't ignore politics because they are in your everyday life and you need to know what's going on because it will always effect you. Watch me. I choose to be happy and unfortunately politics won't allow that.

Earth to experts, AUBURN IS TERRIBLE!!!

Since I did so well last week with predicting the polls i am going to give it a shot again. Unlike last week there weren't many upsets today but i think there will be one change that i don't like but it's gonna happen. This is my prediction of what tommorow's polls will look like:

1-Oklahoma (and rightfully so. They look like the best team in the country right now.)
2-Alabama (People think they should drop because they barely beat Kentucky...that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. Remember how kentucky was undefeated....?)
3-Missouri (They are going to get the benefit of LSU's bye week. Out of sight out of mind..right?)
4-LSU (Yeah bye weeks USED to be good things)
5- Texas (Although i am still not impressed. I think the five teams behind them are all better.)
6- Penn St. (Great team, should be number five.)
7-Texas Tech (Not a fluke, should be ranked above Texas. I think they will beat them this year.)
8-USC (Yup. With the Y's very unflattering win over the pathetic aggies and the Trojans spanking of the ducks, they get the usc treatment here.)
9-BYU (I don't think they should drop in the polls but then again they need to play every game to prove they aren't overrated. I also wouldn't doubt if Florida is in this spot tomorrow.)
10-Florida (Yeah they get the SEC treatment and get to move up because Georgia didn't play. Those dang bye weeks again. Like i said, i won't be surprised if they are switched with byu tomorrow.

Really?!

Thirty four points??? Twenty seven offensively???? Really??? I don't know if it's just playing down to the competition but the fact that you can't punch the ball into the endzone that many times is pretty dang ridiculous. Max Hall, kiss your heisman hopes goodbye. And giving up fourteen points........i don't know....whatever. Maybe they just didn't play all that well because they knew they were going to kill them so they didn't play all that hard. Either way i wanted to see a spanking and i didn't get to. And that makes justin angry. Justin angry! Justin smash!!!!

September Tally

So the results are in and we watched 38 movies in the month of September. That is not counting tv series discs. If we count those we watched a total of 55 dvd's in the month of September. Truthfully, this is probably the month that we have watched the least amount of movies since i started working at Hollywood. I am pleased with us.

Why politics should never be discussed with someone you don't know

Today at work I was verbally attacked...this was the conversation:
(yes, I wrote it down right after it happened so I could tell you all, and I put it in patriotic colors for your enjoyment)

old man: who are you voting for? have you decided yet?

me: yes, I'm voting for Obama.

old man: now why would you do a cotton-pickin thing like that? do you have a reason?

me: yes, I have lots of reasons

old man: okay, name 2

me: mainly, I'm voting for him because I believe him when he speaks

old man: oh so you're voting for him because he's a good orator

me: I believe him. when McCain speaks, I don't believe him.

old man: it's amazing how many people believed Hitler.

me: ...see, this is why you shouldn't talk politics

old man: (interrupting) no, no, no. have you read up on it?

me: yes, I've followed the entire election

old man: really?

me: yes

old man: the news is so biased

(I nod)

old man: it is, don't you think?

me: definately.

...

old man: did you think OJ was innocent?

me: no.

The end. (This is Jesse, by the way)

Cool Hand

Even though we all must die sometime (at least that's what they tell me, i am still trying to figure out a way around this) it doesn't make it any less tragic that Paul Newman has died. It hurts my poor little over worked heart. Not only was he one of my favorite actors, but he was one of the finest actors in the history of Hollywood and more importantly the greatest man in Hollywood. He wasn't just a ridiculous good looking man that made ridiculously great movies (i.e. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, Cool Hand Luke, The Hustler, The Verdict, Road To Perdition etc. etc.) but he was a true humanitarian. This year marked His 50th wedding anniversary to his wife. Yes, 50 years. He donated tens of millions of dollars of his own money to charities, and the company he founded with his original salad dressings, donates ALL of it's profits to charities. His company has donated approximately 178 MILLION dollars to charity. He is one of those people that i obviously never knew, but wish i did. If you have never seen Butch Cassidy, The Sting, or Cool Hand Luke this should be made a top priority. It's tragic, and even more tragic that we must lose the Paul Newman's of the world and still be riddled with the Shia Labeouf's and Lindsay Lohan's.

Movies TOO Long

Lately, every new movie I've seen has felt really really long. I don't know if its me or if our editors in Hollywood have problems. Every time, I think, they could have cut a half hour out of this! I just want to tell them that movies don't have to be two hours long, it's okay to cut it down. Whatever happened to nice, neat, concise writing? Anybody with me on this or is it just me?

Just a few examples: Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Leatherheads, Deception, and Knocked Up (plus many many more)

Somebody giveth and taketh away...

And in this case i don't think it is God. I think he has more things to worry about, in an eternal perspective, than the functionality of our dvd player. Or maybe he does take an interest in my dvd player. If he does than i hope he will make it work again (that is a little prayer). And contrary to what garth brooks would have you believe , there are no unanswered prayers. Take that garth, or should i call you chris....? So anyway, our dvd player just decided to stop working last weekend. Two weeks ago, we get our car fixed, finally and then the falling weekend our dvd player quits working. So now i have this dvd player, and this set of speakers that have absolutley no use to me. What's a boy to do with these? I am just hoping that it just decides to work one day. Is that really too much to ask? I am not asking for free everything for life, but that would be nice too if we could swing some kind of deal there too. Now we have to use this little guy dvd player that we bought for our room. It cost about twenty dollars. Even though he tries hard, there is no way he is going to be up to the task of all the movies we watch. Oh well, i guess we will just have to survive without our surround sound. Stupid mono sound.

Justin

I Recommend

I just wanted to tell everyone that I've seen some very good movies lately and I recommend you all see them too. First off, Young at Heart. I think everyone will love this one. Secondly, Run, Fatboy, Run is so hilarious and good. So, go out and see them and then let me know what you think!

Painting

If anyone wants to see a painting I did, go to my parent's blog:

http://vblaws.blogspot.com/

I painted it from a photo of my parents when they were young kids just like me. Here it is:

(p.s. the painting is acrylic on wood)
