My leg and I are headed to Corpus Christi

I'll admit it, i was wrong. I was wrong because of a field goal kicker. Utah lucked out. They got dominated by TCU's defense all game and TCU gave it away. But like i said before, a win is a win is a win. So none of it matters. Sadly, i have to say i am not as optimistic as chris. If TCU can't beat Utah in RES than we definitely can't. A bit pessimistic? Perhaps. But oh how sweet it would be to crash their BCS dreams. Unfortunately we never seem to upset them, it just happens the other way around. Stupid kickers making me wrong.

Here are my thoughts on the BYU-Utah matchup.

Obviously, our weakness is defense. I hope that we can figure something out in the next two weeks before playing Utah. We need to figure out how to matchup with a spread offense like Utah's.

That being said, I remain optimistic. Utah's offense has not impressed me. They only really looked good during the game-winning drive. If Brian Johnson is going to hurt us, I believe it will only be with his legs, not his arm. Put any kind of pressure on him (which might be asking too much from our defense) and his completion percentage drops tremendously. If we can maintain a consistent pash rush, good things will happen.

Utah has a good defense, but not TCU-level good. They're not as quick or skilled overall. They've looked suspect in the secondary at times. That brings us to BYU's biggest strength: the offense. I will take Max Hall over Brian Johnson any day of the week. Max thrives on pressure, it seems. He made some great throws with CSU's blitzes bearing down on him - Pitta's amazing TD catch came on such a throw. Collie and Pitta have been destroying defenses, even when double teamed, and despite the fact that his presence hasn't been as pronounced as last year, Unga is having a good season and gets things done on the ground.

BYU wins if:
- the offense consistently moves the ball and keeps Utah's defense on the field most of the game
- the defense can manage a few stops and avoid getting burned on the trick plays Utah will throw at them
- they play with intensity and passion and keep their heads at all times

Home field hasn't meant much in this rivalry for some time, and playing in Salt Lake won't be much of a disadvantage for the Cougs. Since our BCS chances are very slim, nothing would be sweeter than winning a share of the conference championship and destroying Utah's perfect season.

This concludes my comment/post.
