I don't know if anyone has been watching American Idol this week, but if you don't know, this week are the auditions. In addition to Simon, Randy, and Kara, they have one guest judge per city. Yesterday, in Boston, it was Victoria Beckham. Today, they were in Atlanta and the guest judge was Mary J. Blige. Something was very interesting to me.
I know we never really know what celebrities are like in real life, but we get impressions of people when we see them interviewed, etc. I don't know about you, but to me, Victoria Beckham comes off as being very snooty and "better-than-thou." On the other hand, Mary J. Blige comes off to me as being pretty down to earth. But, when judging American Idol, Victoria Beckham was beyond kind, and Mary J. Blige was so rude! Victoria Beckham made a point to say nice things to everyone, even the ridiculous, clueless people. Mary J. Blige was laughing and giggling at people all day, without even giving them a chance. I have definitely changed my mind about both of these celebrities, in very different ways.
But, overall, isn't American Idol the most annoying show on T.V.? I hate it so much. Why do I keep watching it? I don't know. It's a mystery.

Funny, I had these very same thoughts.
Kesh and I just watched the two shows--had them recorded. The thing that really bugs me is that the show seems to be trying to entertain us with other things besides the auditions--what the heck is that--the little side productions. I don't mind the individual stories about some of the contestants, but when they start flashing and interspersing the judges faces into a story, who wants to watch that. It's not entertaining or relevant. And, can we just hear the people sing--what's are the little commentaries all about. I'm a little annoyed.
Mom, I totally agree with you! To only get to see a handful of people sing in a two-hour-long show is ridiculous. I was really embarassed when they were extensively making fun of people. When they were showing video montages of the really clueless people, just for the "fun" of exploiting them.
