"The Last Airbender"

After anticipating it for a long time, I finally went to see The Last Airbender. My whole family loves the cartoon, so when most of us gathered for a family reunion of sorts, we planned to see it. Me, Michael, Amelia, Brent, Kelsey, Kurt, Austin, and Nyah all went together. I'm glad to say that Austin and Nyah enjoyed the movie, but, unfortunately, ALL the adults were in agreement: The Last Airbender is the biggest piece of crap movie ever. You might say that we failed ourselves by loving the beloved cartoon too much that the live movie could never live up to it. Maybe we did have expectations, but only moderate ones, and I think it's impossible to completely separate a movie from the cartoon it is based on. To fully express just how horrible I thought this movie was, I've decided to write a poem a day on the subject, using different poetry forms, until I feel satisfied. First, the Japanese Haiku:

The Last Airbender
is such a crappy movie.
Do not go see it.

Tomorrow I will dazzle you all with an "Abecedarian" poem about this crappy piece of crap movie. If you would like to read up on some of the forms I will use, here is a good site: http://www.poets.org/page.php/prmID/197

I actually enjoyed it; however, I look forward to the daily poetic berating.

Gotta love those Haikus. They can make for funny poems.
I am still not quite sure what I think of the movie. There were parts that I enjoyed. But overall I think Shmalalmamaman did not do a good job of portraying the awesome cartoon or the characters. I especially did not like Zuko or his uncle. Most of the time Zuko looked scared instead of angry. I loved the uncle in the cartoon, and his character in the movie wasn't even close. Way off. What are your thoughts on the characters?

Oh, I thought of something else I didn't like in the movie. They pronounced Aang's name differently!!!

Not only do they pronounce Aang's name wrong, but they pronounced Sokka's name wrong and Uncle Iroh's name wrong. This is definitely one of the top ten worst movies I have ever seen. It has nothing to do with expectations and everything to do with the quality of filmmaking. M. Night retarded-last-name IS the worst filmmaker in Hollywood. And he proves me right with every new movie he makes. I honestly do not understand how anybody could even enjoy this movie. Terrible. I hate you, M. Night retarded-last-name.

How did they pronounce Sokka's name in the movie? I don't remember that one.
Also, the dialogue was horrible. I know how hard dialogue can be to write, but these are professionals. Oh, and not having the Mushu warriors?! They're somewhat important in the other ones, so how can you leave them out?
And I don't like M. Night Schmalamalan either.

I don't know where I got Mushu from. I meant the Kyoshi warriors. Oops.

The story and dialogue are already written! M. Night whatever just had to pick the story lines that carry through the first season, like General Zhou, or through all the seasons, like the spirit world, Roku, Kyoshi warriors, etc., and piece it together. It would have been much better than trying to reinvent the whole thing. And why do movie makers always think they have to give a history lesson? Katara narrating so much was unecessary and annoying.
