what am I watching lately?

Not that anyone's really interested, but I thought I could share the TV shows I'm watching and what I think of them, just for fun. As you all already know, I really enjoy watching TV shows, possibly even more than I enjoy watching movies. I know I'm watching quite a few shows at once, it's just because I get them from all different sources so I watch them when I get them. (Oh and this list doesn't include all the shows that I'm waiting for a new season to come out or start.) So here we go!

"Tru Calling"
plot: Tru Davies is a med student who gets a job at the morgue. Soon she finds out that dead people can ask her for help and her day rewinds so she can do it over again, except this time saving the person who asked for help.
where am I? Season 2
where do I get it? Netflix
what do I think? one thumb up for an interesting concept and premise for the show, and for interesting stories in every episode. one thumb down for sub par acting, including Eliza Dushku who plays Tru.

"Jericho"
plot: A little outside of Denver, Colorado sits the small town of Jericho. When a mushroom cloud appears over Denver, and all communication in and out of the town collapses, the people in the town have to figure out a way to survive, including overcoming the fallout from the bomb, info that many other major cities in the U.S. were also hit, a shortage of medical supplies and food, and all the problems that arise from people in a panic.
where am I? Season 1
where do I get it? Netflix Online
what do I think? two thumbs up for everything. The acting (by mostly unknowns) is superb, the stories are complex and interesting, and it's so relevant to the world we live in, where there's always a threat of terrorism.

"Angel"
plot: "The vampire with a soul" Angel, as well as many others from the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" series appear in this show. Angel and friends try to rid L.A. of all evil including beasties, vampires, demons, evil lawyers, you name it.
where am I? Season 5 (last season)
where do I get it? Hollywood Video
what do I think? two thumbs down. It's very disappointing, but I have to be honest. "Angel" is a huge disappointment. The writing has no clear focus, the stories and plots are all over the place, and the characters are compromised, meaning that anyone who watched "Buffy" knows most of the characters in "Angel" really well, and they do not behave in a way that's true to their character. I'm hoping that my beloved Joss Whedon's involvement was limited.

"Burn Notice"
plot: Michael Weston was a spy until someone burned him. "Spies don't get fired, they get burned," meaning all his assets are frozen and he's dumped in Miami to stay. While trying to find out who burned him and get reinstated, he helps regular people solve hard problems, with the assistance of his mother, brother, best friend, and ex-girlfriend.
where am I? Just finished Season 2
where do I get it? Hollywood Video
what do I think? two thumbs way up. This show is great, and I recommend it to everyone. The premise is intriguing and different. It's light and fun. The only downside is the actress who plays Fi, Michael's ex-girlfriend, is very scary...if you see her, you'll know what I mean.

"So You Think You Can Dance"
plot: Reality show about finding America's favorite dancer.
where am I? whatever season's on T.V.
where do I get it? on the tube (tho maybe not for long, thanks to the switch to digital).
what do I think? one thumb up because it's fun to see the incredibly talented dancers on this show, and the creative choreography. one thumb down for annoying Mary (one of the judges) and the way the show is edited. They could show a lot more dancing and less talking/interviewing/judging than they do.

"Bones"
plot: F.B.I. agent Seeley Booth teams up with anthropologist/author Temperance Brennen to solve murders.
where am I? Season 3
where do I get it? Netflix
what do I think? two thumbs up. Fantastic show. Perfect mix of serious drama and comedy, original and intriguing characters, complex plots and subplots that are balanced by a steady theme (usually they solve one murder per episode). I would definitely recommend this one.

So there are the shows I'm watching now. Since many of these shows are running out ("Tru Calling" got canceled halfway through season 2, there isn't any more of "Burn Notice" on DVD, "Angel" only has 5 seasons, "Jericho"only has 2 seasons, etc.) I have some more shows lined up that I'm going to watch, including: Roswell, Veronica Mars, The Closer, Ghost Whisperer, and Medium. I'll let you know what I think of them later. :)

I've started to watch So You Think You Can Dance and I enjoy it. Well, the dancing part. Not so much Mary, she drives me insane!! So does the hostess. I don't like her either. And have you ever noticed that after the couple gets done dancing and goes over for the little interview thing - well, the hostess asks a judge what they thought then she'll put the microphone in front of one of the dancers. Why? Stupid.

We're watching So You Think You Can Dance, too! Dad and me watched one of the audition cities one night when we were waiting for mom to get home, cos there was nothing else on t.v. AND now we're recording them every week! it's fun!
