4th of July

We just got back from the Cedar City 4th of July parade, and let me just say, I have never seen anything like it. First off, the amount of people lining main street was astounding. We had no idea there were that many people living in Cedar City. I don't know where they've been hiding. And the amount of little kids was crazy. I have never seen these kids anywhere.

Then, the parade started. Oh my. Every single vehicle Cedar City possesses was in this parade. There were 9 fire trucks, 20 four-wheelers, 8 classic cars, and 4 different dance squads. They had a tank, an airplane, a house, a boat, remote-control cars, and a horse-drawn buggy. They had every single all-star baseball/softball age group represented, all armed with water guns, balloons, or buckets. They had 3 Veterans floats and 1 Special Olympics float. I counted 5 horses. I can't even tell you the amount of candy that was thrown. Little kids were equipped with Wal-Mart sacks and by the end of the parade, they had decent amounts of candy weighing down their bags. It was like Halloween, the sequel. And balloons!! At one point, Justin and I looked up and saw probably like 7 balloons (6 orange, 1 white) floating up at once. What happens to balloons after that, by the way? I've always wondered.

The parade was one hour and six minutes long.

I think balloons go straight to heaven.
