We had a doctor's appointment on Thursday, and unfortunately, my blood pressure was abnormally high. They took it twice while we were there and it was too high both times. Two days before, I had a really bad headache that wouldn't go away with Tylenol, and so that, combined with the high blood pressure, really worried my doctor. He sent us right over to the hospital for tests! He said if my blood pressure was still high as they monitored me for awhile then they would have to induce labor that night or the next morning!
They hooked me up to the fetal monitor, took blood and urine samples, took my blood pressure every ten minutes for 3 hours, and did an ultrasound. Thankfully, my blood pressure went down to normal and they didn't have to induce me. big sigh. The nurse did tell me, though, that I am having contractions even though I can't feel them. They are itty bitty and very sporatic, but I am! Crazy!!
The whole situation made us realize a couple things. One, that we could have the baby any day now, literally. Two, the hospital is a really really boring place. Three, we're not ready. I guess you could say that it was a good thing because now, we're working really hard at getting more ready. I almost have my hospital bags all ready now, and the baby's room is coming together, too. My parents brought us the crib this weekend and helped me with a lot of other little things that needed to be done.
This whole pregnancy thing has been a very new, interesting experience for us. We're excited and nervous about the next step. Wish us luck!
